What this report shows. A verified historical match establishes that a matching version of the photograph existed by the recorded date. That is a lower bound: the photograph is at least that old and may be older. File-stated dates, archived page or address references, uncertain matches, “no dated record found”, “source unavailable” and “not checked” are shown separately and are never counted. Not one of those outcomes means a photograph is recent. Only the photographs listed were checked, not the whole gallery.
These findings concern the photographs, not the villa’s present condition. Older photographs do not, by themselves, show that a property is poorly maintained or inaccurately described.

Sources currently enabled: the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine (archived copies of the listing page and of its photographs, matched by visual fingerprint and, where identical, by file hash) and the dates stated inside image files. No external image-search provider is enabled. Up to 20 unique photographs are examined per check; logos, icons, maps and unrelated recommendation cards are excluded by default, and the report states the number actually examined.
What an earlier dated match proves
A verified historical match establishes that a matching version of the photograph existed by the recorded date. Where the date is sufficiently precise, the report can calculate a minimum age as of the check date. It does not claim to discover the first appearance anywhere on the internet.

A dated historical record is not automatically the date the photograph was taken. Older photographs do not, by themselves, show that a property is poorly maintained or inaccurately described. Questions about checking villa photographs
How can I check how old a villa photograph is?
Look for a verified matching photograph in an independently dated historical record. This can establish that a matching version existed by that date, but not necessarily when it was taken.
Can the checker find the first time a photograph appeared online?
No. It reports the earliest qualifying dated match found in the sources checked, not the first appearance across the entire internet.
What does “at least X years old” mean?
It means the underlying photograph has a verified matching record old enough to establish that minimum age on the date of the check. It is not the age of the villa or a judgement about its condition.
Does a recent webpage date mean the photographs are recent?
No. A page can be updated while retaining photographs published earlier. The photograph needs its own supporting evidence.
Does “no dated record found” mean that the photograph is new?
No. It means the sources checked did not provide a qualifying dated match. The image’s age remains unverified.
Do old photographs mean that a villa is in poor condition?
No. Photograph history and current property condition are different questions. Ask for current visual evidence before drawing conclusions.
Can I check Mandarin Beach Villa?

Can I use the checker when a listing cannot be accessed?
You can supply saved photographs or direct image links. The report will distinguish customer-supplied images from photographs whose current use was checked directly on a public listing.
Privacy and how a check is processed
- Your session only. A check is bound to a random token in your browser. Nobody else can open it, and this page never lists or ranks checks.
- Expiry. A finished report is deleted from our database 60 minutes after it completes; an unfinished check is deleted after three hours. Our system does not store the listing address, only a one-way hash used to reuse a recent identical check.
- Photographs. Downloaded and uploaded photographs are processed in memory and discarded. For uploads, a 240-pixel thumbnail is kept inside your own check so the report can show it, and is deleted with the report. Uploaded photographs are never sent to any third party.
- Sources. Page and image addresses are sent to the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine to retrieve archived copies. No other provider is enabled. When an external image-search provider is added, this page will say so before it is used.
- Evidence cache. To make repeat checks quick, we keep a technical cache of facts about photographs already checked: a one-way hash of the image address, its visual fingerprint, its file hash, and the earliest verified archive record with its date and link. It holds no photographs, no villa names and no listing addresses, and entries are deleted after 90 days. A report says when a photograph was answered from this cache and when it was last confirmed. We may also run the checker ourselves on some public listings to keep the cache warm; those runs are never published.
- Measurement. We count events only (checks started, completed, evidence found, links used). We do not record which villas were checked, and this page uses no third-party analytics.
- Server logs. The web host’s ordinary server logs record requests to this site, as for every page, and are retained by the host under its standard policy.
- Abuse controls. Checks are rate-limited per visitor and per day, addresses are restricted to public web servers, and downloads are capped in size and pixels.
